Benedum Foundation/Grable Foundation/Chevron STEAM Grants:

  • Design2Display. $20,000. Enhance design process learning to include fabricating prototypes of inventions/creations (2016-17).

  • Fort Cherry Outdoor Discovery Zone. $20,000. Transform unused outdoor space to K-12 learning center for solar energy, weather study, and ecology study stations (2015-16).

  • Little Rangers Maker Studio. $20,000. Transform EL computer lab to maker space (2014-15).

  • Transforming Learning & Spaces. $20,000. Transform HS computer lab to open learning space (2013-14).

  • Robotic 3D Prototypes. $10,000. Integrate 3D printing in grades 7-12 engineering and Hummingbird Robotics into grades 3-8 gifted programming (2012-13).

  • Introduction to LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Engineering. $10,000. Integrate robotics into 6th grade science (2011-12).

  • Fort Cherry Animation Integration Project. $15,000. Update technology for Engineering Lab (2010-11).

 

Grable Foundation – Partnership Grant with South Fayette School District. $104,000. STEAM Innovation Studio: A Catalyst for Remaking Teaching and Learning. Develop K-12 computational thinking programming (2013-14).

 

The Sprout Fund - Partnership Grant with South Fayette School District. $15,000. Grow It To Go: Year Round Home Scale Gardens. Establish K-4 environmental science programming and build leadership opportunities for 9-12 agricultural science students through collaboration (2013-14).

 

PA Career and Technical Education Supplemental Equipment Grant.

  • $6,108. Transform Industrial Arts Lab into FabLab.

  • $16,479. Integrate aquaponics technology into agricultural science program and update greenhouse structure (2013-14).

 

Life Skills Training Grants:

  • LST Program. appx $24,000. Implementation of LST Blueprints Program grades 7-9 (2016-2019).

Female Alliance for STEM Excellence Grant. $1,000. Game Design and Fashion Bots. Establish after-school programming for girls grades 3-6 (2014).

 

Race to the Top Grant. $11,250+. Provide professional development for K-12 teachers in STEM & Literacy  (2012-2016).

 

EC4 (Educators and Corporations Collaborating on Common Core) Project – SW Math and Science Partnership Grant, pass through funds. Maintain collaboration among school district educators and PPG & Alcoa corporations to improve K-12 STEM education (2012-2016).
